Getting started

  1. Open Clapiscribe and allow microphone access when asked.
  2. If needed, let Clapiscribe download the speech model for your language. It comes from Apple and is managed by the system.
  3. Tap record. On the Mac, choose whether to record only your microphone, a meeting app or all system audio.
  4. Stop the recording to get the final transcript and, with Apple Intelligence, a summary.

Clapiscribe runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26 or later and on Macs with macOS 26 or later. Summaries need a device that supports Apple Intelligence.

Purchases

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Clapiscribe → Settings → Pro → Restore Purchases, or tap Restore Purchases on the upgrade screen. Use the same Apple Account you bought Clapiscribe Pro with. Pro works on your iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Does Family Sharing work?

Yes. Both the yearly subscription and the Lifetime purchase include Family Sharing. Family members open Clapiscribe on their device and tap Restore Purchases if Pro is not unlocked automatically.

How do I cancel the subscription or the free trial?

Open the Settings app → your name → Subscriptions (on the Mac: App Store → your account → Account Settings → Subscriptions). Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends to avoid being charged.

My free summaries are used up

“Summarize automatically after recording” is on by default, so the first 3 recordings use the 3 free summaries. Turn it off in Settings → Summaries to choose which recordings to summarize.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, because Apple processes all App Store payments. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account and choose the purchase. Apple decides on refund requests.

Troubleshooting and questions

Clapiscribe can’t access the microphone

Tap Open Settings in Clapiscribe, or turn on Clapiscribe in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone (on the Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone).

The other side of the call isn’t recorded (Mac)

Allow Clapiscribe to record system audio in System Settings → Privacy & Security (on recent macOS versions under Screen & System Audio Recording). Start the call before you start recording, or choose “All system audio”. Headphones give the cleanest transcript.

Transcription isn’t available for my language

Clapiscribe can only transcribe languages Apple’s speech recognition supports on your device. Some languages use a basic dictation engine marked “lower quality”. If the wrong language was used, open the recording and choose Transcribe again….

Summaries are missing

Summaries need Apple Intelligence. Check that your device supports it and that it is turned on in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri, and that its model has finished downloading. Not every language is supported for summaries yet. Transcription works either way.

Only part of my recording was transcribed

The free version transcribes the first 30 minutes of each recording. The whole audio is kept; with Pro, tap Transcribe the rest.

The app closed during a recording

Clapiscribe saves the recording continuously. When you open the app again, it offers to recover the interrupted recording.

How much space do recordings use?

About 17 MB per hour for a microphone recording and about 25 MB per hour for a Mac recording with two channels. Settings → Storage shows the total and can delete old audio while keeping transcripts.

Do I have to tell people I’m recording?

Often yes. Many places require the consent of everyone being recorded. Clapiscribe reminds you when a recording starts and has a consent message you can copy. You are responsible for following the law where you and the participants are; this is not legal advice.
