Getting started
- Tap the scan button and allow camera access when iOS asks.
- Hold your iPhone over the document. Clapiscan finds the edges and captures pages automatically, or tap the shutter.
- Review the pages, adjust crop and filter, and save. Text recognition runs in the background on your device.
- Find your documents in the library, by search or in the Files app under Clapiscan.
Clapiscan runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.
Purchases
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Clapiscan → Settings → Clapiscan Pro → Restore Purchases, or tap Restore Purchases on the upgrade screen. Use the same Apple Account you bought Clapiscan Pro with.
Does Family Sharing work?
Yes. Both the Lifetime purchase and the yearly subscription include Family Sharing. Family members open Clapiscan on their device and tap Restore Purchases if Pro is not unlocked automatically.
How do I cancel the yearly subscription?
Tap Manage Subscription in Clapiscan, or open the Settings app → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Pro stays active until the end of the paid period.
Can I switch from yearly to Lifetime?
Yes. Subscribers see “Switch to Pay Once” on the upgrade screen. After buying Lifetime, cancel the subscription in your Apple Account so it doesn’t renew.
How do the free uses work?
Every Pro tool can be used 3 times for free. A use only counts when the tool finishes successfully. Shortcuts actions share the same counters.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, because Apple processes all App Store payments. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account and choose the purchase. Apple decides on refund requests.
Troubleshooting and questions
Where are my files?
In the Files app under On My iPhone (or On My iPad) → Clapiscan. Deleted documents are in the Recently Deleted folder there for 30 days.
Clapiscan says “Camera Access Needed”
Tap Open Settings and turn on Camera for Clapiscan, or choose Import from Photos Instead.
Text isn’t recognized or the language is wrong
Open Settings → Scanning → Text Languages and pick your languages (Automatic is the default), and check that Recognize Text Automatically is on. For imported PDFs, use Make Searchable. If you close the app during recognition, it continues the next time you open Clapiscan. Password-protected documents are not recognized or searchable.
How does App Lock work?
Turn it on in Settings → Security → App Lock. Clapiscan locks when you leave the app and unlocks with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. App Lock needs a device passcode. It protects the app’s screen but does not encrypt your files, which stay visible in the Files app.
Can I store my documents in iCloud Drive?
Not yet. iCloud Drive storage is not available in the current version, so all documents stay on your device. If you choose iCloud Drive under Settings → Storage → Location, Clapiscan shows an error and your documents remain where they are; nothing is lost.
I forgot the password of a PDF
Clapiscan cannot recover PDF passwords. If you turned on Remember in Keychain for that document, it opens without asking.
Smart titles don’t appear
Smart titles and summaries use Apple Intelligence, which must be supported and turned on. On other devices, Clapiscan suggests a title from the date and sender.
Save to Photos doesn’t work
Allow Clapiscan to add photos in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Clapiscan.
