iOS and iPadOS 26 or later Contact: luca@clapilot.com

Getting started

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV and switch the TV on.
  2. Open Clapimote and allow access to the local network when iOS asks.
  3. Pick your TV from the list. If it doesn’t appear, use Add by IP address with the address from the TV’s network settings.
  4. Confirm the pairing: choose Allow (Samsung) or Accept (LG) on the TV, or enter the 6-character code a Google TV / Android TV shows. Roku needs no pairing.

Supported: Samsung TVs from 2016 on, LG webOS TVs, Roku players and Roku TVs, and Google TV / Android TV devices (for example Sony, TCL, Hisense Google TV, Philips Android TV, Xiaomi, Chromecast with Google TV and NVIDIA Shield). Fire TV and Vizio are not supported yet. Older TVs without Wi-Fi need an infrared remote; iPhone has no infrared, so no app can control them. For Apple TV, use the Apple TV Remote in Control Center.

Clapimote runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.

If your TV doesn’t show up

  • Put the iPhone and the TV on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks and routers with client or AP isolation usually block devices from seeing each other. TVs in a different subnet or VLAN can only be added by IP address if your network routes between them.
  • Turn off VPN or iCloud Private Relay for this network while you set up.
  • The TV must be on, or in network standby, to be found.
  • Check that Settings → Clapimote → Local Network is on.

Samsung

Choose Allow on the TV the first time. Chose Deny by mistake? On the TV open Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager → Device List and allow Clapimote (the path varies by year). To turn the TV on from your phone, enable Power On with Mobile (Settings → General → Network → Expert Settings).

LG

Choose Accept when the pairing prompt appears. On some models, enable LG Connect Apps (Settings → General → Devices → External Devices). To turn the TV on from your phone, enable Turn on via Wi-Fi / Mobile TV On.

Roku

Enable Settings → System → Advanced system settings → Control by mobile apps → Network access. Volume and power buttons only appear on Roku TVs; Roku sticks control the TV’s volume through the TV. To turn a Roku TV on from your phone, enable Settings → System → Power → Fast TV start.

Google TV / Android TV

Enter the 6-character code the TV shows. Pairing keeps failing? On the TV open Settings → Apps → Show system apps → Android TV Remote Service → Clear storage, then pair again. Some devices switch off networking in standby.

“The TV’s security certificate changed”

The TV presents a different certificate than at pairing, for example after a reset. Remove the TV in Clapimote and pair it again.

The power-on button is missing

Clapimote can only wake a TV if it knows the TV’s MAC address or the TV is a Roku TV, and the TV’s own “turn on via network” setting must be enabled.

Purchases

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Clapimote → Settings → Restore Purchases, or tap Restore Purchases on the upgrade screen. Use the same Apple Account you bought Clapimote Pro with.

Does Family Sharing work?

Yes. Clapimote Pro is a one-time purchase with Family Sharing. Family members open Clapimote on their device and tap Restore Purchases if Pro is not unlocked automatically.

My purchase is “pending”

With Ask to Buy, a family organizer has to approve the purchase first. Pro unlocks as soon as it is approved.

Is there a subscription?

No. Clapimote Pro is a one-time purchase. There is nothing to cancel.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, because Apple processes all App Store payments. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account and choose the purchase. Apple decides on refund requests.
