Summary
Clapiclean is a photo and storage cleaner for iPhone and iPad published by Clapilot GbR. Clapilot GbR does not collect any data from the app. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code, and the app makes no network requests of its own. Your photos and videos are analysed on your device and never leave it through Clapiclean.

What Clapiclean processes and where
- Photo library. With your permission, Clapiclean reads your photos and videos on the device to find exact duplicates, similar photos, screenshots, large videos and blurry shots. The analysis uses Apple’s Photos and Vision frameworks and runs entirely on your device.
- No face recognition. To pick the best shot, Clapiclean uses a quality score for faces in a photo. It does not identify people and stores only that score.
- Location. Clapiclean only checks whether a photo has location information, to show “Location: Yes/No”, and copies it onto new copies it creates (for example a compressed video). It does not store coordinates.
- Local index. To avoid rescanning everything, Clapiclean keeps an index in its private app storage: photo identifiers, dates, sizes, media type, similarity fingerprints, analysis scores, your swipe choices and a log of how much space you freed. The index is excluded from device backups. You can delete it at any time in Settings → Reset Index; your photos are not affected.
- Settings. Your settings, the free-limit counters and a summary of category counts and sizes are stored in the app’s preferences on your device and can be part of your normal device backup.
Permissions
Photos (full or limited access)
Needed to scan your library, delete the items you choose, save compressed videos and still photos as new items in the same albums, and add photos to Favourites in Swipe mode. If you grant limited access, Clapiclean only sees the photos you selected.
Clapiclean asks for no other permissions: no camera, microphone, contacts, location or tracking permission. You can change photo access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
Deleting and compressing
- Clapiclean never deletes anything on its own. Before anything is removed, you review the selection in the app and then confirm in the iOS system dialog.
- Deleted items go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app and stay there for 30 days, so you can recover them.
- Video compression runs on your device. Clapiclean saves the result as a new video and keeps the original until you choose “Delete Original” (with the iOS confirmation) or “Keep Both”. Temporary files are removed afterwards.
- Scans and batch compressions you start can show their progress as a Live Activity on your device.
iCloud Photos
If you use iCloud Photos with “Optimize Storage”, some originals are only stored in iCloud. Clapiclean never downloads them while scanning. When you play or compress such a video (after tapping “Download from iCloud”) or convert a Live Photo to a still, the Photos framework downloads the original from Apple. This happens between your device and your own iCloud account under Apple’s privacy policy; Clapilot has no access to it. Clapiclean itself does not use iCloud to store data.
Purchases through the App Store
Clapiclean is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Clapiclean Pro is a one-time in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment and handles billing, Family Sharing and refunds as an independent controller under the Apple Privacy Policy. We do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details.
The app uses Apple’s StoreKit framework to check on your device which purchases are active. In App Store Connect we only see aggregated sales and download reports that do not identify you.
Crash reports shared by Apple
If you have turned on Share With App Developers in your device settings, Apple may pass crash reports and anonymous diagnostic data about Clapiclean on to us. Apple does not tell us who you are. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
When you email us
If you contact us by email, we process your email address, the content of your message and anything you choose to include (for example your device model, iOS version or screenshots) only to answer your request.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request concerns the app you use, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in answering inquiries). We delete your messages once your request has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations require us to keep them longer.
No tracking, no selling
Clapiclean contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites. We do not sell or share personal data.
Processing that happens only on your device is not processing by Clapilot GbR: we have no access to it. The only personal data we process ourselves is what you send us by email (see “When you email us”).
Deleting your data
- Reset the local index in Clapiclean Settings → Reset Index.
- Deleting the app removes all data it stored on your device.
- Your photos and videos are managed by the Photos app, not by Clapiclean.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20), and the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21). Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)).
To exercise your rights, email luca@clapilot.com.
Your data in Clapiclean is stored only on your device. We cannot see, export or delete it for you; you can do this yourself in the app or in your device settings.
